Las Vegas Police to Reopen Cristiano Ronaldo Rape Case

Rabat – Football star Cristiano Ronaldo is facing some serious rape accusations. According to AFP, police in Las Vegas announced on Monday, October 1, that they have reopened an investigation into an allegation of rape brought by a 34-year-old American woman against the world football star.“The case has been reopened and our detectives are following up on information being provided,” Las Vegas police said, refusing to give further details on the “ongoing investigation.” Kathryn Mayorga has opened up for the first time to German outlet Der Spiegel about the accusations she made against the 33-year-old sensation, asserting that he raped her at a Las Vegas hotel in 2009.Mayorga has also revealed that the former Real Madrid star made an agreement with her to sign a confidentiality contract and pay her $375,000.The Juventus striker has already denied the rumors on social media. Ronaldo commented on the charge of rape during a live Instagram. He also decided to sue the German magazine over defamation. “It’s a lie. She wants to become famous thanks to my name. These situations are part of my job,” said the football player. The accusation first surfaced 1.5 years ago, but Kathryn Mayorga’s name only appeared recently.Last year, Ronaldo called the revelation “journalistic fiction,” telling the media the sexual relationship had been consensual. However, Kathryn Mayorga’s lawyer claims to have a document challenging Cristiano Ronaldo’s version, detailing that the victim had said “no” and “stop” several times.Mayorga not only hopes to “get justice” by making Ronaldo take responsibility, but also to prevent him from doing it again. She also wanted “to encourage all the victims of sexual assault” to pursue their attackers, “as famous, rich or powerful as they can look. “ read more

Halifax buoyed by spectacular boom in international newcomers agency

Halifax buoyed by ‘spectacular’ boom in international newcomers: agency by Brett Bundale, The Canadian Press Posted Jun 14, 2017 10:16 am MDT Last Updated Jun 14, 2017 at 11:40 am MDT AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to TwitterTwitterShare to FacebookFacebookShare to RedditRedditShare to 電子郵件Email HALIFAX – Halifax’s economic development agency is touting the city’s off-the-charts population growth in 2016, thanks mostly to a surge of international immigrants. The mini population boom saw more than 8,000 new residents in the city, with the total population climbing to 426,000, from July 2015 to July 2016.The population increase is the highlight of this year’s Halifax Index, an annual overview of the state of Nova Scotia’s capital city presented Wednesday by the Halifax Partnership.Ian Munro, chief economist with the organization, called the population growth — which beat out the national average — “spectacular.”“I don’t know yet if that’s a trend or a blip,” he said in an interview. “We have to wait to see what next year holds. But it’s certainly positive.”Halifax’s per capita population growth in 2016 outpaced Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa and, just barely, Toronto, according to recent Statistics Canada figures. Most of the population growth came from international immigrants, who made up three-quarters of the city’s new residents.Even without the one-time wave of Syrian refugees, it was still a record year for Halifax.“The population numbers from last year are really out of the park,” Munro said. “I’d like to think it’s a sign that the efforts the city is putting into attracting immigrants are paying off. The question is can we do it again next year.”Meanwhile, GDP growth was also strong in 2016, ticking up 2.2 per cent. But GDP is expected to taper off as some large projects wind down. The uptick in growth was propelled chiefly by the manufacturing sector, which grew by five per cent largely due to a ramping up of shipbuilding work at the Halifax Shipyard.Under the index’s quality-of-life indicator, the overall crime rate dropped 3 per cent in Halifax in 2015, the most recent year available, but violent crime increased five per cent.Meanwhile, Halifax’s per capita income was $44,244 last year, falling short of the national average and among the lowest compared to six benchmark cities of comparable size. The average monthly rent for a two-bedroom apartment was among the highest of the cities examined, increasing 1.4 per cent to $1,063.A City Matters survey presented alongside the Halifax Index found nearly half of the city’s residents found the cost of food and groceries not very or not at all affordable, with 20 per cent saying they sometimes need to choose between food and other necessities. As for Halifax’s labour force, the number of Baby Boomers entering retirement continues to grow, reducing labour force participation rates, according to the Halifax Index. But the number of workers aged 65 or older has tripled to 9,000 over the past 10 years.Employment in the arts and culture sector dwindled for the second year in a row, with 300 jobs lost, the Halifax Index found. Wages also decreased by $3 an hour, compared to a 70 cent wage bump across all other sectors. read more

Security Council urges Lebanese parties to make haste on government formation efforts

As consultations continue on the formation of a new government in Lebanon, the United Nations Security Council today urged all parties there to engage constructively to achieve this goal ‘as soon as possible.” Lebanon’s Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, and members of his administration remain in office in a caretaker capacity, while Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam is continuing consultations on the formation of a new Government.“Security Council members urged all parties in Lebanon to engage constructively to facilitate the formation of a government as soon as possible that respects Lebanon’s democratic and constitutional principles, responds effectively to the many security, humanitarian and development challenges facing Lebanon and fulfils Lebanon’s international obligations,” Ambassador Liu Jieyi of China, which holds the Council’s rotating presidency for November, said in a statement read out to the press. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has also stressed the importance of forming a new government, particularly in light of the various challenges the country faces, not least of which is the influx of more than 800,000 refugees from neighbouring Syria since the start of the conflict there in 2011.“The formation of an empowered government is increasingly urgent, given the multiple security, humanitarian and development challenges that Lebanon now faces. It has now been seven months since the Government of Prime Minister Mikati resigned. I urge all parties to act in the interests of the Lebanese people and engage with Prime Minister-designate Salam to form a new government capable of effectively meeting such challenges,” Mr. Ban wrote in a recent report.Council members also welcomed the mobilization of support by the UN-backed International Support Group for Lebanon, which was inaugurated in New York in September on the margins of the 68th session of the General Assembly, and “encouraged continued efforts to rally support for Lebanon.”The Support Group undertook to work together to mobilize support for the sovereignty and State institutions of Lebanon and to highlight and promote efforts to assist the country where it was most affected by the Syrian crisis, including in respect of strengthening the capacity of the Lebanese Armed Forces, assistance to refugees and vulnerable communities affected by the crisis, and structural and financial support to the Government. At a meeting at UN Headquarters yesterday, the Group noted the many ongoing pressures on Lebanon and again underlined the importance of burden sharing. They also regretted the lack of progress on government formation in Beirut and encouraged all Lebanese parties to engage positively in this effort. read more

Muslim convert The Eagle who planned Oxford Street terror attack jailed for

The note, in full: Oxford Street – long road with no bollards or barriers preventing a can mounting the pavement. Busiest time is between 11am-12pm with Saturday being the busisest day. Wolf should either use a ram attack or use … on the truck to maximise death … it is a busy street it is ideal for an attack. It is expected nearly 100 could be killed in the attack.Anjem Choudary demo drew Ludlow to police attentionThe court heard how Ludlow, from Rochester in Kent, first came to the attention of police in 2010 when he attended a demonstration led by radical preacher Anjem Choudary and his banned Al-Muhajiroun (ALM) group. “He said to me, ‘Don’t you want to die a martyr? They deserve it’.” Lewis Ludlow with the sword The judge said Ludlow had been engaged in preparations for a “spectacular” multi-casualty attack “with the intention of causing death or terror”.He told the defendant: “Your commitment at the time we are concerned with to violent extremism ran very deep and for some time. Lewis Ludlow's note On April 13 Ludlow’s mobile phone was retrieved from a storm drain and found to have videos of the defendant swearing allegiance to IS and evidence of “hostile reconnaissance”. “There could be no other explanation for your preparing to kill innocent people in a vehicle attack for ideological reasons.”Judge Hilliard rejected the suggestion Ludlow had been coerced by an Islamic State supporter in the Philippines, saying the defendant was “nobody’s fool”.He added: “I do not regard you as suggestible or easily taken advantage of. You were well able to resist the Prevent programme.”Lewis Ludlow’s handwritten noteThe Royal Mail worker who called himself The Ghost penned a handwritten note which he later ripped up detailing his plans for a terror attack on the capital:  Lewis Ludlow with the sword Want the best of The Telegraph direct to your email and WhatsApp? A Muslim convert nicknamed “The Eagle” has been jailed for at least 15 years for planning a “spectacular” terror attack on Oxford Street in London.Lewis Ludlow, 27, swore allegiance to Islamic State as he prepared to drive a van through London’s shopping district or Madame Tussauds. The former Royal Mail worker, who called himself “The Eagle” and “The Ghost”, researched potential targets around the capital. He bought a phone under a false name and wrote down his attack plans, which were later found ripped up in a bin.He identified Oxford Street as an “ideal” spot, writing: “It is expected nearly 100 could be killed in the attack.”Last year, he pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to plotting an attack in the UK and funding IS abroad.Judge Nicholas Hilliard QC jailed Ludlow for life with a minimum term of 15 years for the attack plan, with seven years to run concurrently for funding. When Ludlow was arrested by counter-terrorism police he refused to explain himself in interview.Following his guilty plea, autistic Ludlow told how he rejected an MI5 advance in March 2017 but agreed to engage with the Prevent programme. He became “bitter” and “heartbroken” when he was barred from going to the Philippines, he said: “I felt that I was trapped like an animal unable to escape its cage.”At first, Abu Yaqeen asked for money then talked him into plotting an attack in Britain, saying “you have to kill them”, he claimed.Ludlow told the court: “I said no at first, I did not want to because I felt this was a bit scary and then he said, ‘You have to do it. You have to kill them, make them pay in blood, you must get revenge. They are not innocent. They deserve to die’.”He said the best way to do so was using a ram attack. He said in order to achieve such a spectacular attack we should use a truck bomb attack to achieve the necessary effect.  Lewis Ludlow taking pictures in Oxford StreetCredit:PA When he was arrested in 2015, IS material was found on Ludlow’s electronic devices but no further action was taken. In January 2018, he bought a ticket to fly to the Philippines on February 3 but was stopped at the airport and had his passport seized.Having set up a PayPal account and a fake Facebook site called Antique Collections, he sent money to an IS supporter, Abu Yaqeen, in the Philippines.Ludlow also turned his attention to launching an attack in Britain, with encouragement from Yaqeen, the court heard. He visited an internet cafe in Vauxhall Bridge Road in central London where he searched online for shopping centres, Oxford Street and the Isis flag.Police later recovered torn-up scraps of paper from Ludlow’s bin detailing potential attack sites, including Madame Tussauds, Oxford Street, St Paul’s Cathedral and a “Shia temple in Romford”.He detailed a potential attack on Oxford Street using a van mounting the pavement, noting the lack of safety barriers. He wrote: “Wolf should either use a ram attack or use … on the truck to maximise death … it is a busy street it is ideal for an attack. It is expected nearly 100 could be killed in the attack.”  Lewis Ludlow taking pictures in Oxford Street Lewis Ludlow’s noteCredit:Central read more

Google Android app is actually NFCenabled

first_imgNear Field Communications, otherwise known as NFC, has yet to be made widely popular in the U.S. Although it’s used often in countries like Japan, it’s taking a bit longer for the U.S. to catch up to the trend. Google, however, is on a mission to spread the NFC love, but is doing so somewhat stealthily.Website Near Field Communications World first reported that Google had slipped NFC tag-reading support into its new Google+ app. Singapore-based software developer Ridzuan Ashim first spotted the NFC integration on the Nexus S phone. The Nexus S runs the Android Gingerbread OS. The Google+ app lets you use NFC to read tags and share the contents of those tags via Google+. So far, you can only use the function with a Nexus S phone as well as being one of the elite members of Google+.At the moment, there’s not a ton you can do with it, but it could open a lot of possibilities for the future. NFC functionality could automatically check you in at a restaurant and then share that with your friends who are in your Circles. NFC tags could also let you add a person to one of your Circles. Similar to the iPhone app Bump where you tap your iPhone to another iPhone to exchange phone numbers, you could just touch phones with another Google+ member and they would be instantly added to your Circle. The NFC capability could also allow you to scan tags to join a Huddle or a Hangout, or scan a tag to find Sparks that are relevant to your location. If the words Circles, Sparks, Hangouts, and Huddles are confusing you, make sure to check out our Google+ post for more info. What would you like to see done with NFC and Google+?Read more at Ridz.sg, via Engadgetlast_img read more

Man sentenced for sex with teen took advantage of the girl in

first_imgMan sentenced for sex with teen “took advantage of the girl in quite a squalid manner” The man, from Mayo, was 19 at the time while the girl was 16. A two-year sentence was imposed on the man today. A MAYO MAN who had sex with a 16-year-old relative of his ex-girlfriend when he was 19 has been given a two-year sentence. The complainant was described as a “very innocent child” who would never forget having to have tests done on her body and private parts after she reported the incident to gardaí.She has since felt suicidal and has tried to starve herself to death as she believed this would be the most painless way to take her life. The now 23-year-old man, who cannot be named to protect his victim’s identity, pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to defilement of the girl in Co Mayo on 23 June 2012.“Taken advantage in quite a squalid manner”Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy said this was not a case of two young people engaging in willing sex while slightly either side of the age of consent. He said the accused had “taken advantage of the girl in quite a squalid manner”.The judge noted the victim was a happy and cheerful teen but she “felt dirty, useless and sick” after the defilement.Mr Justice McCarthy imposed a two-year sentence and a four-year post-release supervision order. The man was also registered as a sex offender.“Took a liking”A local garda told Patrick Gageby SC, prosecuting, that the accused had previously been going out with a relative of the victim and during the relationship he “took a liking” to the victim and used to text her frequently. The girl was described by her mother as “a very innocent child.”The accused man later met up with the girl and they walked around the town in the company of another female. After that young woman left, the accused and complainant took shelter from the rain and the accused made a “minor pass” at the complainant which was “not encouraged”.The two of them went back to the accused man’s house and dried themselves. There was a small amount of kissing before the accused lay on top of the girl. She tried to pull up her clothing and wriggle away. The act of defilement then occurred. The doorbell rang and the accused went to answer it. When he returned the accused man told the girl he was sorry, that he had been drinking and smoking stuff. The girl later told her mother, following a brief reconciliation with the accused, and made a statement to gardaí.The accused man initially denied there had been sexual conduct but later made admissions. The complainant in her victim impact statement said she had felt “dirty, useless and sick” after the incident and stopped eating causing her to become really sick until she was brought for help by her mother. She said she would never forget being brought to the sexual assault treatment unit and having tests done to her body and private parts. She said her mother and sister had always been there for her and she would never forget they “had her back”. She said she had now moved on with her life and believed and hoped he would not get away with doing this to anyone else. The garda agreed with Patrick McGrath SC, defending, that the accused sometimes came across as “young and naive”. He has no previous convictions.McGrath said the accused acknowledged what he did but said there had been no premeditation in relation to the situation. He said the man felt guilt and remorse for his actions.Counsel said his client’s and the complainant’s life had moved on to a considerable extent and there was no suggestion of any re-offending since the offence. He said in that time the accused continued to be a positive member of society.McGrath said all the indicators pointed to the accused being a productive and useful member of society starting out in life and a future with little or low risk of criminality.Read: Man jailed over ‘barbaric’ attack where man was shot seven times in front of his mother> Image: Shutterstock/Jan Faukner Short URL Tuesday 29 Nov 2016, 8:00 PM Share6 Tweet Email Nov 29th 2016, 8:00 PM Image: Shutterstock/Jan Faukner http://jrnl.ie/3109750 23 Comments Tweet thisShare on FacebookEmail this article 25,473 Views By Nadya Labilast_img read more

Heres why your next TV binge should be Crazy ExGirlfriend

first_img Your Next TV Binge is TheJournal.ie’s new Friday feature, recommending a box set for you to get stuck into over the weekend. This week: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. VALENTINE’S DAY BRINGS out the best and the worst in us all. Those lucky enough to be in a loving relationship may use the day as an excuse to lavish their other halves with attention and gifts. Those who are single might rather burn an effigy of Cupid in their back garden. However, here’s where this Venn diagram of human society crosses over: they should ALL be watching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom, who doubles down as co-creator and co-writer for the series) is living in New York; working as a high-powered, high-paid lawyer; and currently on a head-on collision course with a massive nervous breakdown. Source: Series Every Day/YouTube One day she bumps into her high school sweetheart Josh (Vincent Rodriguez III). They flirt a little. He tells her he’s been living in West Covina, California – “Just two hours from the beach, four in traffic” – and his blissful, laid-back lifestyle is exactly what she needs in her life.Within a few days, she’s dumped everything she knows and moved to West Covina, only to discover that Josh already has a new girlfriend – physically perfect yoga teacher Valencia (Gabrielle Ruiz). So Rebecca takes a job in a local firm, where she befriends Paula (Donna Lynne Champlin). Once Paula gets clued into Rebecca’s actual reasons for moving – ie Josh – she decides to help her new BFF get the man of her dreams, no matter what the consequences.OK, so the set-up isn’t massively original. But the way the story is told is quite unlike anything else on TV right now – and might explains why Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is widely regarded as one of the best new sitcoms to come along in quite some time.As the story is leads you down the garden path about Rachel and Josh – or Rachel and Josh’s best friend Greg (Santino Fontana) – it slowly reveals that the biggest important love story in the show is the relationship between Rachel and Paula, two strong women who didn’t realise they’d gone through their lives without a bonding female friendship, and didn’t realise they needed one until they found each other. And then there’s the musical numbers.“Hang on!,” we hear you shout in shock. “Musical? You really buried the lead with that one, didn’t you??” Well, yes, it is technically a romantic musical comedy (wait, come back!), but that doesn’t mean you should let your imagination run to thinking this is just another Glee. While the show does occasionally find Rebecca breaking into a big production – which initially led many to believe that it was a hallucinatory side-effect of that big impending nervous breakdown – the songs themselves are hilarious and perfectly executed. With the sharply hilarious minds behind The Devil Wears Prada and 500 Days Of Summer involved, no two songs are alike, but they’re all brilliantly memorable.Sex With A Stranger is basically a Beyonce song about having a one-night stand and the fears that you may have accidentally brought home a serial killer. Having A Few People Over is an absolute Calvin Harris-esque EDM banger about laying out a cheese plate for your pals. The already infamous Sexy Getting Ready Song goes into intimate detail about what women go through before heading out on a date, and culminates with the guest rapper ringing up all his ex-girlfriends to apologise for not respecting the amount of work they put into getting ready. Or there’s Heavy Boobs which, well… you can probably guess what that one’s about. Source: The CW Television Network/YouTubeEach episode has at least two musical numbers. They’ve already spawned countless argued-over listicle rankings, and we guarantee that by the time you get to the end of the second season, you’ll already have your own Spotify playlist. So, yes, it is a romantic musical comedy, but it seems to have been made with people who hate sappy romance, twee musicals and run-of-the-mill sitcoms in mind. It’s staggeringly smart – the opening credits basically consist of Rebecca arguing over the sexist nature of the show’s title – and often very emotionally powerful, as the show never shies away from the harsh realities of Rebecca’s plight.Fundamentally though, it is a very funny, often very romantic, and occasionally very musical (in the best possible way!) show that deserves your attention, whether you’re single or not.So where can I watch it? Seasons one and two of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend are available on Netflix.Read all our TV binge recommendations here>Why your next TV binge should be… 30 Rock> https://jrnl.ie/3232861 Feb 10th 2017, 8:00 PM Image: The CW Share5 Tweet Email3 Here’s why your next TV binge should be… Crazy Ex-Girlfriend A romantic musical comedy like nothing else you’ve ever seen. Outlook brightens for house prices

first_imgThe RBA’s decision to cut rates on Melbourne Cup day resulted in an immediate impact on house prices, with properties in Australia’s capital cities recording their first price rise of the year in November. Yellow Brick Road’s Mark Bouris said there is reason to be optimistic. “The rise in Australian capital city house prices is proof that the RBA’s rate cuts have had a real impact on immediate market recovery,” Bouris said. “We believe today’s data is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to positive house price movement heading into 2012 and it looks like for the first time in a long time, Australian home owners are taking back the market.” Source: Broker News Facebook Twitter: @NeosKosmos Instagramlast_img read more

Le 28 mars 2010 à 19:02 • Emmanuel Perrinlast_img read more

NO PNP CABINET MINISTER LEFT OUT OF PNP

first_img Recommended for you Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsAppProvidenciales, 01 Dec 2014 – NO PNP CABINET MINISTER LEFT OUT OF PNP Administration Mid Term performance AWARDS announced this morning as the Opposition made a bold presentation in a press conference earlier today. The certificates are to be delivered to the members of the administration and are actually an indictment for what the PDM labels as government’s “bad behaviour” while in service. Apparently Hon Donhue Gardiner, Minister of Border Control is “out of control”… words probably borrowed from former Premier Mike Misick… Hon Porsha Smith, the Health Minister is “missing in action” but doubly bestowed and sharing “the most travelled award” with DP Hon Akierra Missick. A prize called: “The Alice in Wonderland” goes to the Premier Hon Rufus Ewing along with the “President of the Frequent Flyer’s Club” certificate. “Spin doctor” is the Deputy Premier according to the PDM list and the “Blame Dem” nod is earned by Hon George Lightbourne, who heads up Government Support Services. Media was snapping photos and taking video of the PDM members as they held up those certificate awards and gave this mid-term report card; opting not to go with letter grades for the evaluation as was the case after year one of the PNP. Hon Washington Misick, the Finance Minister was prized for his so called keenness to tax; “the Tax and Roll Back” certificate had his name on it. Hon Amanda Missick was cited for the road works, or lack thereof and the numerous problems along the roadways including the feral dog problem. “The Road way Award” goes to the member from Cheshire Hall & Richmond Hills. As for how the Ministers will actually be presented their PDM prizes; it was not clear but media was told the certificates would be en route right away. ING Financial Markets expands global wellbeing programme

first_imgING Financial Markets, part of global banking organisation ING, has expanded its global wellbeing programme, enabling employees to create and set personalised wellbeing plans and goals. The Wellbeing Quotient (WQ) programme, which launched for 350 ING Financial Markets’ sales employees across 30 countries in March 2017, was initially designed to help staff actively manage their personal and professional wellbeing, as well as driving measurable and sustainable changes in nutrition, exercise, sleep, and relaxation.Employees who participated in the original six-month programme were provided with an activity tracker, which linked to a WQ app that delivered personalised data and feedback relating to the programme’s four key pillars: eat, move, sleep, and relax. The programme provided relevant educational information and content around these areas in four six-weekly blocks, allowing employees to focus on one component at a time. The initial WQ programme also enabled employees to contact individuals from an expert pool of professionals, including professors, coaches, and Olympic athletes, for advice in a specific subject as and when required. The activity trackers were given to ING Financial Markets’ sales staff on 9 March 2017, with the bank extending access to the programme to interested clients and employees’ friends and family on 3 April 2017, to help foster a culture of wellbeing. Friends, family and clients received a €100 (£85) discount to get the device and join the programme. The first block of the WQ programme, eat, started on 18 April 2017.As of June 2018, participating employees have improved their overall wellbeing scores by 5% and spent, on average, 4.2 hours a week engaging with the WQ programme. The top five activities employees were recorded doing were general workouts, running, cycling, walking and freestyle.Due to the success of the programme within its first year, ING Financial Markets has now launched a second stage of the WQ programme for its Financial Markets staff, and has implemented the initial programme for other departments within ING. Approximately 3,000 employees across the business are now participating in the WQ programme. The second stage of the WQ programme has been designed to create a more personalised experience, building on the initial learning and insights phase to now encourage staff to be more active in changing their habits and achieving their specific wellbeing goals. The WQ programme will still centre around the four key pillars of eat, sleep, move and relax, but these will now be tackled simultaneously, as part of a new three block structure: Connect, Speed Up and Slow Down. The Connect block, which is currently underway, allows employees to set their own personalised wellbeing plans and goals; the Speed Up block, which will commence in July, will focus on activity and smart training; the Slow Down module, which will be delivered in October, will centre around relaxation and resting harder. Each block will contain relevant training and events. The programme also has an overall focus on heart health and will measure heart rate variability, especially in relation to stress.Employees were able to choose a new activity tracking device at the beginning of the Connect block, to select an option that best suited their lifestyle. ING is only able to access collated and anonymised data from these if more than 15 employees within a certain jurisdiction or department are participating in the WQ programme. The newest phase of the wellbeing programme was communicated to employees in April 2018 using a trailer-style video, created using clips that employees recorded while taking part in WQ activities. The WQ programme, provided in conjunction with Lifeguard, follows on from ING’s Emotional Quotient (EQ) programme, which launched four years ago to help ING Financial Markets’ sales staff understand and improve their emotional intelligence. The EQ programme covers areas such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management.Mark Pieter de Boer, chief commercial officer WB at ING, said: “The programme was designed to help staff actively manage their wellbeing, and drive measurable changes in how they eat, move, sleep and relax, improving their health both at work and in their free time. By encouraging our staff as well as clients to invest in their wellbeing and adapt their habits, the ING FM team has witnessed revenue growth of approximately 20% over a period of three years, the last year of which included the introduction of the WQ programme. We believe that by empowering our staff to embrace this mentality, it has had a positive impact on their everyday lives.”last_img read more
